MEMANGGIL.CO – To maintain the city’s aesthetic appeal and provide comfortable infrastructure facilities for residents, the Public Works and Housing Agency (DPUPR) of Blora regularly conducts sidewalk painting.
Acting Head of DPUPR Blora, Nidzamudin Al Hudda, through the Head of the Cipta Karya Department, Firmansyah, explained that this activity is carried out three times a year, namely during Eid al-Fitr, Indonesian Independence Day, and Blora Regency’s Anniversary.
According to Firmansyah, the Eid al-Fitr moment poses a unique challenge due to its changing date every year.
“Indeed, we must adjust to the limited budget and plan the painting well,” he said.
Additionally, sidewalks are an essential facility in supporting traffic smoothness, playing a vital role.
Apart from being a safe pedestrian path, sidewalks also serve as a cycling lane when a dedicated cycling path is not available.
This is in line with Government Regulation No. 79 of 2013, Article 114, which states that sidewalks can be used by cyclists under certain conditions.
Furthermore, sidewalks are also regulated in the Minister of Public Works Regulation No. 3 of 2014, which states that sidewalks are elevated paths above the road surface, providing protection and safety for pedestrians.
Sidewalks not only function as a means of transportation for pedestrians but also support the city’s aesthetics. At the very least, here are some of the important functions of sidewalks:
1. Pedestrian Safety: Sidewalks provide a separate path from motorized vehicles, reducing the risk of accidents and providing protection for pedestrians.
2. Comfort and Accessibility: Sidewalks facilitate pedestrian movement with flat, clean, and obstacle-free surfaces.
3. Public Facilities: In addition to pedestrian paths, sidewalks can be equipped with public facilities such as seating areas, lighting, and trash cans for user convenience.
4. City Aesthetics: Beautifully designed sidewalks, using aesthetic materials and greening, can beautify the city and give a unique character to the surrounding environment.
