MEMANGGIL.CO - Deeds performed by a believer will cease when death comes. Consequently, the reward will also be cut off with their death.
However, Muslims believe that there are deeds whose rewards continue to flow even after the person has passed away. These deeds are known as 'amal jariyah' (continuous charity). As stated in a hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
:
"When someone dies, their deeds are cut off except for three things: continuous charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for them."Based on various sources, the following is a summary of the three deeds that continue to yield rewards even after a person's passing:
1. Continuous Charity (Sedekah Jariyah): Continuous charity refers to any form of giving that benefits others continuously. Examples include waqf (endowment), donating to build mosques, educational institutions, digging wells for public use, and more. The rewards from continuous charity will continue to flow even after the person who gave has passed away, as long as the benefits from the charity continue to be felt by others.
2. Beneficial Knowledge (Ilmu yang Bermanfaat): Beneficial knowledge refers to knowledge that continues to be used and practiced by others. As long as the knowledge taught is still being applied, the rewards will continue to flow to the person who taught it, even after they have passed away. Beneficial knowledge can include efforts to guide someone to the right path, such as teaching worship, loving the Quran, loving the Prophet Muhammad, seeking beneficial knowledge, and more.
In a hadith narrated by Imam Muslim from Abu Hurairah, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
"Whoever invites to guidance, he will receive the reward similar to the reward of those who follow him, without reducing their rewards in the slightest. And whoever invites to misguidance, he will receive the sin similar to the sin of those who follow him, without reducing their sins in the slightest."
3. Prayer of a Righteous Child (Doa Anak yang Saleh): A righteous child is a child who is well-educated by their parents, so that the child will continue to pray for their parents after they have passed away and benefit others. The prayer of a righteous child is a valuable deed for parents.
As stated in a hadith that emphasizes the importance of educating children in an Islamic manner and instilling correct beliefs from an early age. The sincere and sincere prayer of a righteous child will continue to flow rewards to their parents.
One prayer that children can recite for their parents is:
"O Allah, forgive me and my parents, and have mercy on them as they raised me when I was young."
These are the three deeds whose rewards do not cease after a person's death, and which can continue to bring goodness to them even after they have passed away.
